Why You Might Need to Replace It
-
Over time, limescale buildup inside the valve can cause it to stick open, leading to constant hissing or leaking.
-
A failing anti-vacuum valve can lead to pressure irregularities, backflow, or steam-leak symptoms.
-
Regular maintenance or servicing of your Lelit machine may recommend replacing this valve to maintain optimal performance.
Installation & Maintenance Tips
-
Turn off the machine and allow it to cool before replacing the valve.
-
Use PTFE (Teflon) tape on the male thread for a secure seal when installing.
-
Once installed, check for hissing or leaks as you heat up the boiler — a well-functioning anti-vacuum valve should seal when pressure builds.
-
Clean or replace the valve periodically, especially if limescale or mineral buildup is common in your water supply.
-
Use silicone or food-grade lubricants (like Molykote) on O-rings to extend lifespan (as recommended by some users).
Common Symptoms of a Faulty Anti-Vacuum Valve
-
Continuous hissing from the machine during idle or heating, even when it’s supposed to be sealed.
-
Steam wand not working properly, but hot water still dispenses — may indicate vacuum formation.
-
Dripping into the drip tray — suggests the valve is venting when not supposed to.
-
Backflow or hot water returning to the reservoir — common in faulty vacuum valve scenarios.
